Organizing

This is how I organize what I will juice for the day. I group together which produce goes where. I start juicing the lightest colored group and proceed to the darkest (green) juice last. There is an extra bowl of sliced fresh pineapple in case I need to make something extra sweet.

The green juice is totally hopeless. The celery is really really over powering but, it helps control my migraine, big time. I just deal with it and brace myself. I like to drink the green juice early in the morning, just to get it out of the way, so to speak. I've mastered controlling my gag reflex. LOL!

Honestly though, despite the taste of the green juice, I cannot dispute the health benefits. I try to get organic as much as possible. Landmark sells affordable organic greens, that's a plus since it's near where I work. A supermarket near our house also sells basic organic greens, so it's not too hard to source. I can always get organic lettuce, carrots and cucumber.

Cleaning Veggies and Fruits for Juicing

This is how I clean my veggies and fruits prior to juicing. I fill a huge bowl with water and about 1/3 cup of white vinegar. I soak the produce for a few minutes (while I prep the juicer and other ingredients). Drain and wash them again and again in running tap water.

For veggies and fruits that are not up to par, in terms of a doubtful "bite/dent" in the body, I peel them or cut out the ugly part prior to juicing. Just to be sure.

My Sunshine

I created this juice based on their yellow color. I also named it Sunshine Juice because it reminds me of my niece Ashley. She's always happy and smiling. People are naturally drawn to her because of her happy disposition. She also has great comedic timing and people just feel easy around her.

The Sunshine Juice is made with yellow water melon, one lemon, one or two gala apples, depending on how sweet you want it,  two oranges and one pear.

So refreshing!

Easy Juicing

One of my favorite juicing combination. 1-2-3 easy. Apple, yellow watermelon and celery.

Why I Started Juicing

I'm trying this juicing thing. I only started last Friday. I do a combination of eating regular human food (LOL) and juicing. At this moment, I am not confident that I can go cold turkey on solid food since I grew up carnivorous. Baby steps.

I am trying to flip my food pyramid by eating/juicing fresh fruits and vegetables more (instead of carbs). Landmark sells affordable organic fruits and vegetables, I'm so happy about that.

Joe Cross, of Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead fame kinda inspired me to try juicing on a regular basis. So far, juicing has helped me with my migraine. I've been having migraine on a daily basis for over a month prior to the juicing and suddenly, after one huge glass of green juice, my migraine disappeared!

Amazing! When I was having the migraines, I took medication on most days, it didn't help really because after the meds wore off, the migraine would just come back. So, on most days, I didn't even bother taking any meds.

Thank goodness for celery! I hate the taste but if I feel a migraine coming on, I just juice something with celery and the migraine is kept at bay. Who knew?!

Anyway, I made a juice today with a head of Romaine  lettuce, a pear and a cup (or a bit more) of pineapple. This turned out really great. I would definitely be doing this again!

Happy juicing!

Juicing

Juicing 3 oranges, 3 carrots and a small piece of ginger is surprisingly good!

It only yielded a glass and a half but it's worth it.

I should do this more often.

Decaf Date

Drinking a bad-ass hot chocolate like a grown-up.

For Kuya, he was insisting on a real Mocha Frappucino, not the dacaf kind, since he's already a big boy. He told me, "The caffeine in this frap doesn't work, I'm getting sleepy!"

Ummm, that's because I sort of forgot to tell him that I ordered decaf. Hee hee, oops! :-)

At The Dinner Table Tonight

My niece Ashley is six years old. She's the only six year old I know who can pick a chicken and a tilapia clean. I mean clean, licking bones clean.

She also always asks for the tilapia eyes. "You're not eating it anyway, right?"

You gotta love this kid.
